A fully automatic coater that evaporates a carbon rod to deposit a thin conductive carbon layer on SEM and EDS (elemental analysis) samples. Metal coatings interfere with the sample's own elements in EDS, whereas carbon prevents charging without spoiling the analysis, so it is preferred for samples that will undergo elemental analysis. Continuous and pulse modes, each with five preset evaporation programs, give fine-grained and uniform coatings.
