A disordered hard carbon anode for lithium-ion systems. Unlike graphite it has no ordered layered structure, so it stores lithium both between layers and in nanopores. This mechanism offers an advantage under the low-temperature and high-rate conditions where graphite struggles. It has a fine 5.0-micron particle size.
