In internal-reflection mode the infrared beam passes through a single-crystal silicon window and reflects from its back surface. A thin nano-gold film is chemically deposited on that surface; the gold film acts both as conductive substrate and as the source of surface-enhanced infrared absorption (SEIRAS). The catalyst is loaded onto this film to form the working electrode.
ATR-SEIRAS distinguishes species adsorbed on the electrode (e.g. linearly and bridge-bonded CO) from species in solution with high sensitivity.
The two-chamber H-type body is separated by a membrane, and both cathode and anode compartments have gas inlet/outlet ports. The cell is used in an FTIR spectrometer with a variable-angle reflection optical stage (offered as a separate product).
| Cell type | Two-chamber H type, replaceable membrane |
| Mode | Internal reflection (ATR-SEIRAS) |
| IR window | Single-crystal silicon |
| Working electrode | Chemically deposited Au film on Si (prepared by user) |
| Counter / reference electrode | Graphite / Ag/AgCl |
| Gas inlet/outlet | Cathode and anode compartments |

A variable-angle reflection optical stage is needed to use the cell in your FTIR spectrometer. Please state your spectrometer brand and model when ordering.
Dimensions, channel sizes and volume can be customised on request; please state special requirements in your quotation request.
