The all-PTFE photoelectrochemical cell with sample holder (standard) places sheet photoelectrodes directly opposite the light window. The sample is pressed against a 1 cm² defined-area opening by a screw on the back and seals the cell at this opening. Non-standard sample sizes can be used as long as they cover the opening; the opening size can be customized. The PTFE body offers almost universal chemical resistance and can be used up to 260 °C. It is a safe choice for electrolytes containing HF or strong alkali, which attack glass and quartz.
The counter and reference electrodes must be 6 mm shaft, long-type electrodes. The PTFE inner core of the lid rotates 360° for alignment, electrode feedthroughs are sealed with O-ring screws and a sub-surface sparger is fitted.
In the standard-sealed cell, the lid and electrode feedthroughs are closed with O-rings and sealing screws. An oxygen-free atmosphere is maintained by purging with nitrogen or argon. It is not intended for vacuum or pressure.
