The absolutely sealed all-PTFE photoelectrochemical cell combines the chemical resistance of PTFE with a closed system. The PTFE body offers almost universal chemical resistance and can be used up to 260 °C. It is a safe choice for electrolytes containing HF or strong alkali, which attack glass and quartz. The quartz window has transmittance above 95% (manufacturer data) and can be replaced quickly.
The electrodes plug into socket connections inside the lid; the PTFE inner core rotates 360° to align the electrodes with the window. A sub-surface sparger is fitted. An optional sampling port can be added (extra charge).
In the absolutely sealed cell the electrodes plug into socket (jack) connections inside the lid, isolating the system completely from the outside. With valves fitted, the cell can be evacuated (below −100 kPa) or operated under slight pressure (max. 0.5 MPa, manufacturer data). The electrodes are made to fit this cell and must be ordered together with it.
