The compact all-PTFE H-type photoelectrochemical cell is a two-compartment, standard-sealed cell with a Ø37 mm quartz window. The cathode (working electrode) and anode (counter electrode) compartments are separated by an ion exchange membrane and joined with through-bolts. The PTFE body offers almost universal chemical resistance and can be used up to 260 °C. It is a safe choice for electrolytes containing HF or strong alkali, which attack glass and quartz.

The neck is internally threaded; electrode feedthroughs are sealed directly on the PTFE body with O-ring screws. The reference electrode sits in the same compartment as the working electrode, which reduces the ohmic (iR) drop in solution. A sub-surface gas inlet is fitted and the quartz window can be removed and refitted quickly.
