This version has an added gas outlet connection for use with a differential electrochemical mass spectrometer (DEMS); gases formed during measurement are sent to the mass spectrometer.
In the glass H-type cell the cathode and anode compartments are separated by a replaceable ion-exchange membrane; valved gas ports allow purging with inert gas to carry products to the mass spectrometer.
