A linear-chain carbonate solvent used to reduce the high viscosity of cyclic solvents such as EC. Low viscosity increases ion mobility within the electrolyte and so raises conductivity. It appears alongside EC in almost every commercial electrolyte formulation. With a color index of ≤5 it has the highest optical purity in the series.
Key Features
- Low viscosity that raises the ionic conductivity of the electrolyte
- Highest optical purity in the series with a color index of ≤5
- A core component of standard electrolyte formulations alongside EC
