A carbonate solvent with a high dielectric constant similar to EC but liquid at room temperature. Its low freezing point gives the electrolyte low-temperature performance. Because it can cause exfoliation in graphite anodes it is generally used in limited proportions in lithium-ion systems; this constraint does not apply to sodium-ion and hard carbon anode systems.
