An entry-level flow cell for researchers new to gas diffusion electrolysis.
In a gas diffusion electrode (GDE) the gaseous reactant (e.g. CO₂) reaches the catalyst layer directly; because the low solubility of the gas in water is bypassed, much higher current densities can be reached than in conventional cells.
In the three-electrode system the working electrode is a gas diffusion electrode and the counter electrode a conventional rod. A quick-release lid makes opening and closing easy; both cathode and anode sides have gas inlet/outlet holes and spare plugs.
