The H-type flow cell is a two-compartment electrolysis cell through which the catholyte can be pumped continuously. Electrolyte is circulated through the inlet/outlet ports of the cathode compartment; when flow is not used, the ports are closed with spare screws.
The salt bridge enters from the side in an L shape and its distance to the working electrode is adjustable; a holder stops it from moving. The electrode gap is below 14 mm; at 2 A the cell voltage is below 10 V (manufacturer data). The lid opens quickly and is sealed with FKM (Viton) compression gaskets.
The gas inlet on the cathode lid extends into the cell and delivers gas straight into the solution; the outlet has a quick connector. The working-electrode port takes 6 mm rod electrodes. A 99.99% platinum mesh electrode mounted perpendicular to its rod is used as the anode.
