An in-situ electrochemical cell for synchrotron X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS: XANES and EXAFS); the oxidation state and coordination environment of the catalyst are followed under electrochemical control.
The gas diffusion chamber distributes reactant gas (CO₂, CO, O₂, etc.) evenly behind the gas diffusion electrode, so gas-fed reactions can be studied during synchrotron measurements. Replacing the gas chamber with an open chamber allows conventional measurements on immersed sheet, foam or foil electrodes.
The Kapton window offers wide-angle access up to 120° and a large window area; the short distance between window and gas diffusion electrode increases signal sensitivity. Single-chamber and H-type membrane configurations are also supported.
