One side of this flow cell is a large liquid chamber and the other a serpentine gas channel; the gas passes through the gas diffusion layer and reacts with the electrolyte in the chamber.
The large liquid chamber buffers the electrolyte and gives more stable measurements against short-term flow and bubble disturbances.
The working/reference side and counter-electrode side are separated by a membrane, so catholyte and anolyte are controlled independently.
