The small-volume 3H-type cell is a membrane glass cell working with about 10 mL of electrolyte per compartment. The cathode and anode compartments are separated by an ion exchange membrane and joined with a chain clamp, so the membrane is easy to change.
The electrode feedthroughs are sealed on a PTFE stopper with O-ring sealing screws. A sparger delivers the required gas below the electrolyte surface. Three options are offered: single-layer, single-layer with sampling port, and jacketed.
The body is made of borosilicate glass 3.3, which has low thermal expansion (3.3 × 10⁻⁶ K⁻¹) and the highest resistance classes against water (HGB 1) and acids (S 1). Avoid sudden temperature differences above 120 °C to reduce the risk of breakage.
