The small-volume side-illuminated PTFE photoelectrochemical cell is designed for fast, repeatable testing of sheet photoelectrodes. The sample is pressed against a 1 cm² defined-area opening by a screw on the back and seals the cell at this opening; the opening size can be customized. The quartz window has transmittance above 95% (manufacturer data).
The orange and red terminals on the body make it quick to connect the reference and counter electrode leads of electrochemical workstations. It comes as standard with an AgCl reference electrode and a platinum wire counter electrode (manufacturer data). The PTFE body offers almost universal chemical resistance and can be used up to 260 °C. It is a safe choice for electrolytes containing HF or strong alkali, which attack glass and quartz.
