The Swagelok-type cell is an easy-to-assemble battery test cell that mimics coin-cell conditions. Glassy carbon (GC-Ø3) conductive rods screwed in from both ends of the PEEK body compress the positive and negative electrode samples with a separator between them; the glassy carbon current collectors minimise side reactions.
In the two-electrode model the electrolyte filling screw on top has a gas seal. The three-electrode model includes an Ag/AgCl reference electrode, with electrolyte added through the reference port, so the working-electrode potential is monitored separately.
