An electrode clamp holds a sheet, foil or mesh sample, connects it to the potentiostat and lets you use that sample as the working electrode. Non-disk samples such as catalyst-coated sheets or metal foils can be measured directly this way. Bodies are PTFE or PEEK, or machined from one piece of stainless steel or titanium.
Choose by the material that touches the sample. Models with platinum (PT series), gold (AU-X) or glassy carbon (GC-2) contacts are preferred when the contact point is close to, or touches, the electrolyte, because these materials are stable in most media. Stainless steel (SUS) and titanium (TI) clamps are economical options; if a metal contact enters the solution its own reactions can add to the measured current, so keep the contact out of the solution. A special PEEK-body clamp for glassy carbon sheets is also offered.
