GDS180S is a plain carbon fiber paper without PTFE treatment or a microporous layer (MPL). It is 180 µm thick, weighs about 50 g/m² and has about 77% porosity; it is supplied as a 100 × 100 mm sheet. Without water-repellent PTFE, liquid electrolyte enters its pores more easily than in PTFE-treated papers; this is what "hydrophilic" means here.
Unlike SGL 22BB, 38BC and 39BB, it carries no ready-made water-repellent treatment or MPL. It is therefore a suitable substrate for work where you apply your own PTFE treatment, MPL or catalyst layer, and for electrodes that should be wetted by liquid electrolyte. Its through-plane resistance is low (< 7 mΩ·cm²).
