A rotating disk electrode (RDE) tip is a disk electrode spun at a set speed on a rotator. Rotation pulls solution toward the disk and forms a thin, steady diffusion layer, so mass transport to the surface is set by the rotation rate. The limiting current rises with the square root of the rotation rate (Levich equation), which makes the RDE a key tool for electrocatalyst tests such as oxygen reduction (ORR).

The tips on this page are compatible with common Japanese-type rotators: PTFE body (Ø12 mm, 25 mm long) and a choice of 3, 4 or 5 mm disks. The disk can be glassy carbon, platinum or gold. They differ from US-type tips in connection and body size; if you use a US-type rotator, choose the US-type tip. The rotator is not included.
