A rotating disk electrode (RDE) tip is a disk electrode spun at a set speed on a rotator. Rotation pulls solution toward the disk and forms a thin, steady diffusion layer, so mass transport to the surface is set by the rotation rate. The limiting current rises with the square root of the rotation rate (Levich equation), which makes the RDE a key tool for electrocatalyst tests such as oxygen reduction (ORR).
The tips on this page are compatible with common US-type rotators and have a Ø5 mm disk. The connection (external or internal thread) and body (PTFE or PEEK, Ø15 mm) are confirmed at ordering to match your rotator shaft. The disk is glassy carbon, platinum or gold. They differ from Japanese-type tips in connection and body size. The rotator is not included.
