SGL Sigracet 22BB is a carbon fiber paper used as a gas diffusion layer (GDL) in fuel cells and electrolyzers. The substrate is made water-repellent with 5% PTFE and carries a microporous layer (MPL) on one side. A GDL spreads gas to the catalyst layer, conducts electrons and helps remove water. It is supplied as a 100 × 100 mm sheet.
22BB is the thinnest and lightest SGL paper in this group (215 ± 20 µm, 70 g/m²) and has the lowest through-plane resistance (< 10 mΩ·cm²). Compared with the thicker 39BB (315 µm) and 38BC (325 µm), it suits thin cell designs and work needing low resistance. Catalyst ink is normally coated on the MPL side; do not mix up the two faces.
