A PEEK-bodied three-electrode test cell designed for component (electrode, electrolyte, separator) evaluation at the early development stage of lithium-ion batteries. The positive and negative electrodes are 5 mm apart and the cell runs on less than 1 mL of electrolyte (manufacturer data); tightening the left and right screws compresses corrosion-resistant O-rings for sealing. The reference electrode is a Ø2 mm Ag/AgCl electrode and is included. In a three-electrode measurement the reference electrode lets the anode and cathode potentials be tracked separately, so you can tell which electrode limits cell performance and detect effects such as lithium plating or electrode polarization.
