The graphite sheet is a conductive, chemically stable carbon plate that can serve as an electrode substrate, a counter electrode or directly as a working electrode. Unlike glassy carbon, its layered structure lets it take up ions (intercalation) and it is usually porous, so it can absorb electrolyte and gas.
The sheets come in US or Japan-origin material, in 1, 2 and 3 mm thicknesses and in eight sizes from 10 × 10 mm to 25 × 25 mm. They work best with the dedicated electrode clamps. For a stable background current, it is advisable to soak the sheet in the electrolyte before measuring or to run a few conditioning scans.
